Q: How do I start my own clothing brand in a small town, from scratch?
I get asked this a lot, so I figured my first blog post should be the honest answer — not the polished, Instagram-caption version, but the real one.
Where It All Began
I didn't stumble into fashion. I studied it. I pursued formal fashion designing because styling, aesthetics, and creating something visually striking has always felt like home to me. But the actual idea of building my own label — something rooted in fashion desi sensibilities, not borrowed Western templates — was planted much earlier, back in high school, long before I knew the first thing about business.
At that point, I didn't know an A from a Z of running a brand. I didn't understand sourcing, pricing, or supply chains. All I had was a pull toward fashion that refused to fade. So after school, I moved to a bigger city to formally pursue fashion design, spent several years building real knowledge, and slowly started shaping what would eventually become this brand.
A Fashion Degree Doesn't Prepare You for Everything
Here's something nobody tells you in design school: a degree teaches you construction, silhouettes, and trend forecasting — not how to source raw material, manage finances, or build a website from zero. I learned all of that on the job, mostly through trial, error, and a lot of stubbornness.
There is no such thing as perfect timing or complete knowledge before you start. You learn as you go. Since launching this brand, there hasn't been a single day where I haven't picked up something new.
Starting a Brand From a Small Town in Rajasthan
This is where things get genuinely hard. Building women's fashion Rajasthan style, from a small town like Banswara, comes with a very specific set of obstacles. Raw materials, machinery, skilled tailors, experienced karigars, managers — none of it is readily available locally. You cannot simply walk into the market and find a trained artisan the way you might in a bigger city.
So we source fabric and materials directly from cities before production begins, then train our own workers ourselves, detail by detail, because no one is born knowing everything. That's also how a small-batch fashion brand in India stays true to its promise of quality — every co-ord set and every one of our COD dresses online goes through hands we've personally trained, not an anonymous factory line.
We're Not Perfect — And We're Not Pretending to Be
Some products fail. Some batches don't turn out exactly as expected. That's the honest reality of small-batch manufacturing, especially when you're building infrastructure from scratch instead of inheriting it. But patience and consistency matter more than perfection. Not everything will go your way, but sincere, steady work compounds over time.
Whether it's our signature detachable bead co-ord sets online India, or the small details in our affordable earrings online India collection, every product carries the weight of this struggle — and the intention behind it.
What Keeps Us Going
At the end of the day, it's the customers who trust a small, unfamiliar brand from a small town that keeps us motivated. Every order, every repeat customer, every message telling us they loved a piece — that's what makes the sourcing struggles, the training, and the sleepless nights worth it.
We're still learning. We're still growing. But we're building this the honest way — one small-town, small-batch step at a time.
